The Best Men (Yes, Plural)

January 8, 2024 | Updates

About Greg

Greg and I have known each other since 2003 when I was working at a summer program in college for rising high-school seniors, the same program I went through 2 years prior. We became friends several months after the program wrapped up. Turned out we both had similar interests and goals.

Greg had moved to Seattle to start his career, and whenever I was on the west coast, I’d do my best to see him. Whenever Greg was back east, we’d meet up as well, usually around the holidays.

Turns out now I’m in Arizona, and Greg moved back to the east coast.

But over the last 20+ years, we’ve really gotten to know each other. Greg’s been with me through a lot, and I knew I want him as a best man.

About Nick

Nick and I met about a decade later. For whatever reason, we understood each other right away. He quickly became a close friend.

Nick and I would regularly grab lunch together and talk about life. He liked driving, and I liked talking in the car, so that’s what we did.

I went to his wedding in 2017, and (you’ll have to ask me about the funny story that goes with this) managed to capture an amazing photo of when Nick received his wife at the ceremony. I truly appreciated when Nick told me he printed that photo out and put it in their wedding album.

Just like Greg, there are lots of things Nick helped me with over the years, from moving, to entrepreneurship.

Why 2 Best Men

Greg and I would catch up more in bulk, and Nick and I would see each other go through life in real-time.

Greg knew me well before I had any indication as to who I really am. Nick got to watch the growth happen.

There was no way in my heart that I could pick between them.

If you take the story of finding the love of my life, Greg saw how the story began, getting updates on the chapters each year, and Nick watched it unfold, as I found Emelie.

For me, it’s like the two of them represent the path I took to get here.

And I’m honored they’ve accepted this role.
