Wow! Another week has gone by already. The wedding will be here before we know it!
Here are this week’s updates:
Groomsmen
The two best men and two groomsmen have all accepted their roles. Woohoo! I’m very excited about this. Depending on who can make it from Emelie’s friends, I may add groomsmen, but the list won’t shrink.
Venue
We are in communication with several venue options. We are enjoying the pre-sales discussions to get a feel for where the energy wants to go. Meaning, we have no attachment to the venue, and the right place will become obvious for us. How we are treated during pre-sales factors A LOT into which venue we go with, regardless of amenities.
While some wedding planning articles seem to think you pick a venue after sending save-the-dates, my logistics brain knows that’s backwards. We also have no attachment to our selected date, and there’s a strong possibility it will move given our vendor negotiations.
We know that venues like to gouge wedding prices when pricing for events that provide the same selections come nowhere close in price, so we are taking this into account as well.
Engagement Photos
We are very close to having our engagement photo session booked. Of course I have to get new clothes for it, as I have to get back into my fitness routine before the wedding.
Interesting Thought
What’s fascinating to me is how much more I could help photographers and venues close deals just watching their impersonal emails, lack of follow-up, no desire to move to closing the deal, etc. I’m having to move the sales conversations forward myself. One way I’m doing this though is to go to another vendor when the fractals don’t add up.
Logistics is interesting, and weddings are often seen as huge cash cows in the hospitality industry. So, while it is taking time to narrow down a venue, we have so much flexibility in things that we will find the right one for us.
